Monterey, CA - Approximately 550 students and staff from Walter Colton Middle School will take their anti-bullying message to Colton Hall in Monterey on Wednesday, October 16 at 10 a.m. Students will wear blue and yellow t-shirts exemplifying the school colors (making for great visuals).

The school has partnered with Harmony at Home since 2018 to implement the world-renowned Olweus Bullying Prevention Program on its campus. The program has operated in Monterey County since 2012 serving more than 11,000 children, parents, teachers, non-teaching staff, administrators and community partners. The goals of the program are to reduce existing bullying problems among students, prevent the development of new bullying problems and achieve better peer relations at school.

Specifically, students at Walter Colton have initiated an ABC (anti-bullying club) on campus, and this rally is a result of a student-led initiative to enhance culture and community at the school.

“I am extremely proud of our students,” said Walter Colton Middle School Principal Joan Kevorkian. “They have really embraced this program and took it to a new level on our campus. This rally is a direct result of their passion and commitment to building a strong culture at our school.”

“The successful implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program at Walter Colton is due to the exceptional collaboration amongst students, parents, teachers, staff, and the entire community. This Anti-Bullying Rally is a testament to their collective efforts to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and compassionate school community.” said Sarah Behm, Program Director, Harmony At Home.
