General Education Busing is not required and is provided based upon available district funding.  General Education busing is a privilege which may be discontinued at any time for inappropriate conduct.
Those students that are eligible and reside within the busing boundary for their school of attendance MUST apply every year for a new bus pass.  As seats are limited, passes are sold first come first serve for eligible students.  Student that have been approved to attend a school outside of their school of attendance will be placed on a waiting list.  Once space is available, students on the waiting list will be notified that they may purchase a bus pass.  We will begin contacting families on August 1, 2019 for any open seating.
If your child is eligible and you wish to use transportation services, please complete a bus pass application and payment at the Transportation Department, 540 Canyon Del Rey, Monterey, CA. Applications must be submitted every school year. Bus passes for the previous school year are no longer valid.
Transportation annual service is $200 for the first student, $160 for the second student, and $120 for the third student and on. We also offer semester passes, which cost $100 for the first student, $80 for the second student and $60 for the third student and on.  First Semester passes must be renewed by February 1st each year or busing services will be discontinued until a new pass has been purchased.
If you are applying for a FREE pass, you will need the provide the most current 30 days proof of income for all sources of household income. Verification of residency is required for all bus pass applications, both paid and free.
If your student loses or damages their bus pass they must pay $5 for a replacement pass. 
If your student discontinues use of the transportation service, you must notify the Transportation Department and return the bus pass in order to close your account. A pro-rated refund will be issued for paid in full bus passes once the request for refund is complete.

Offices are not open weekends or holidays, and may be subject to occasional closures for district wide operational events. Please call during school breaks to see if we have staff in the office.

All School Bus Drivers must go through a thorough screening, which includes fingerprinting by the school district and California Highway Patrol.  They are also required to complete extensive training to obtain and retain their bus driver certification.  These are safety sensitive positions that require extensive screening and training as they are transporting our most precious cargo!
