  1. OPENING BUSINESS

I.a. Call Public Session to Order - President Alana Myles  
Minutes:
Board President Alana Myles called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Minutes:
Board Members Present: Debra Gramespacher, Dr. Jon Hill, Tom Jennings, Alana Myles and Wendy Root Askew.
Board Members Absent: Tim Chaney.
Late Arrivals: Dr. Bettye Lusk arrived at 6:38 p.m.
Staff Present: Ryan Altemeyer, Bijou Beltran, Dr. PK Diffenbaugh, Marci McFadden, Cresta McIntosh and Beth Wodecki.

III. PUBLIC COMMENTS RE CLOSED SESSION ITEMS  
Minutes:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School of the Arts parent, Maria Cruz, shared that her TK student is unable to use the urinals as they are not accessible to smaller children.
Marina High School student Lucia Brown spoke regarding not being able to receive assistance from her school with stipend for the Music Band Instructor and the mistreatment of the marching band members.

MBTA President Tom Grych recognized the Principals and Assistant Principals for their hard work.

VII. PRESENTATIONS/RECOGNITIONS/STUDENT BD MBR RPTS/MILITARY LIAISONS  

VII.a. Recognize MPUSD Principals and Assistant Principals During National Principals Month  
Minutes:
The Board and Superintendent recognized Principals and Assistant Principals for National Principals Month. Del Rey Woods Principal Lynn Ebora, Highland Principal Hecate Rosewood, La Mesa Principal Phil Menchaca, Marina Vista Principal Cristy Campanaro, Marshall Principal Cathleen Main, Ord Terrace Principal Joe Sampson, Walter Colton Middle School Joan Kevorkian and Los Arboles Middle School Principal Reggie Breland accepted the recognition.

IX.a. Receive update from Facilities Advisory Committee Meeting of October 22, 2019 Regarding Measure I Bond Projects Priority List  
Minutes:
Dr. PK Diffenbaugh presented. Conversation ensued.

 

  1. BOARD RETREAT

X.a. Board Retreat  
Minutes:
Cresta McIntosh, Beth Wodecki, Dr. Will Neslon, Carli Peck, Sean True and Mariana Monge presented. Conversation ensued.
MBTA President Tom Grych shared with a lot of many things introduced to teachers, he is not sure which program is most effective. In addition, Mr. Grych spoke regarding data numbers on student performances may drop because of the amount of disruptive time at Seaside and Marina High may affect the students’ scores.
