September is Attendance Awareness Month

September is Attendance Awareness Month, an opportunity to highlight something that makes a meaningful difference in every student’s education: being at school each day and on time.
At Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, we believe each day counts and every person (student) matters. Regular attendance helps students stay connected to their teachers and classmates, keep pace with learning, build confidence, and develop habits that support success throughout school and beyond.
Strong attendance habits begin early and continue to matter at every grade level. Even occasional absences can add up over time and result in missed learning and important classroom experiences.
We also recognize that families may sometimes face challenges that make getting to school difficult. Our schools are here to help. Families experiencing attendance barriers are encouraged to connect with their school so we can work together to identify resources and support.
Throughout September, and all year long, MPUSD is committed to partnering with students and families to make every school day count.
