Specialized Programs

Title I, Part A - Improving Basic Programs

The purpose of Title I, Part A is to improve basic programs operated by LEAs by consulting with teachers, principals, pupil services personnel, administrators, other staff, and parents; and coordinating with other programs under this Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 United States Code [U.S.C.] 1400 et seq.), the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 1998, the Head Start Act, the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, and the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

Title III, English Learner and Immigrant Programs

Funding is made available to eligible local educational agencies (LEAs) to provide supplementary programs and services to English learner (EL) students. The purpose of the Title III Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Students program is to ensure that all English learners attain English language proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment in English, and meet the same challenging state and academic standards as all other students.
 

Title IV, Part A:  Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE)

Title IV, Part A Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) program federal funds are to improve students’ academic achievement by increasing local educational agencies, schools, and local communities' capacity.

 

The purpose of Title IV, Part A funds is to improve students’ academic achievement by increasing the capacity of states, local educational agencies (LEAs), schools, and local communities to:

  • Provide all students with access to a well-rounded education;
  • Improve school conditions for student learning; and
  • Improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.
