MPUSD & California Education Partners
The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is proud to partner with organizations focused on equitable and inclusive strategies that provide access to high-quality educational practices. We also work with a wide-range of businesses and groups to help us identify and remove barriers for all students.
In 2020, MPUSD began a collaboration with California Education Partners and eight other school districts across the state, focused on improving math skills in students preschool through third grade. This partnership is called the 'Preschool through Third Grade Coherence Collaboration' (P3CC).
According to California Education Partners, the partnership creates a three-year commitment to areas including the following areas:
- Articulate a vision for learning preschool to third grade
- Focus on common high-leverage pedagogical practices
- Create a system of aligned data and assessment that provides a complete view of student progress PreK-3
- Strengthen a system to build teacher & administrator capacity
Our school district also partnered with the UCLA Math Project to find ways to improve student opinions and preferences during their experience with math education.
In June 2023, MPUSD completed its three-year commitment with P3CC. However, our teachers and administrators are continuing to use the techniques they learned during this time frame.
