the district is built on six pillars powerful teaching and learning cause of school and District culture service mindset commitment to equity Innovation and creativity and leadership as a lover and to gather those pillars form the foundation of which were building one of the best school systems and the country how to say one of the main things I appreciate about the district is the value they place on diversity of their staff wear this faculty and the teaching staff and it shows to the leadership That Daycare by our students and our family in our community I think that shows every that our priorities are really to invest in the whole child so we've invested in art music and after-school Sports we've invested in social emotional support mental health are we even named are the top communities for music education 3 years in a row and that's because of our investment for kids starting on music in Tek preschool and then having instruments by the time they're in 5th grade and all the way through high school so you know our priority is really to ensure that each and every kid has an optimal experience at our school sites and graduates with lots of opportunities in their future were much more than just a test score were much more than just academics we really try to create an environment where all our students can be successful. Because of the types of supports that we put in place one of the things that I loved hearing about when we breakfasts and dinners with my boys put how much the teachers care about them as people not just as students but about what they're doing in their everyday lives what they do on the weekends but they're passionate about it's probably one of my favorite things about we have a number of what exit is just growing we're adding Sports all the time we have a number of after-school clubs during school clubs we really believe in the whole child we really want to have kids to have a well-rounded experience and that means getting involved in their School commits and the Greater Community abroad our teachers are always encouraging us to be better and then we have the College and Career Center who always bring speakers from uc's or csu's or even colleges to come down and talk to her teaching us about scholarships and financial aid we passed in 2018 measure I which is a 213 million dollar bond to improve our schools and since that time we've seen tremendous Improvement across the board and we have more projects on the way but we've built a gym at Marina High School athletic field and track at Seaside High School a science center at Monterey High School all our campuses are schedule I get a modernized and brought up to a certain level of Excellence we're constantly working and improving our sights been something that's been a real blessing for us that the community invested in our schools number starting to see those dividends and will continue to see for years to come we're very much a system that's committed and working really hard on behalf of your student
