MPUSD Families,

The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is pleased to welcome new and returning students, and families to 2020-21 school year. We know this year is certainly unique. We have appreciated your input and patience throughout the summer months as we planned for this school year. As a system we're committed to ensure that we provide the support necessary to overcome any barrier that might get in the way of your child's success.

As you know, MPUSD has three phases for this school year. These phases are contingent on the health conditions of Monterey County.

  • Phase I (August - October) - Full Distance Learning
  • Phase II (October - December) - Hybrid Model (Combination of Distance Learning and In-Person Learning)
  • Phase III (January - June 2021) - In-Person Learning

We will continue our communication and transparency with families through school site Town Halls conducted by your principal, with parent workshops to help you navigate Distance Learning and other related topics, including use of technology, social and emotional health, and more.

We know that this year will be challenging, but we know together we can overcome any challenge. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or concerns. We'll be communicating almost exclusively through ParentSquare this year. So if you have not signed up, it is important that you create an account so that we can give timely communication to you and your family.

We wish you great success in the 2020-21 school year and we are here to serve you and your family to ensure that you have a great experience.

We are grateful for your continued confidence in the district, your child’s school, our teachers and staff to prepare your student for academic success. Our committed and talented team of teachers, staff, and administrators have an outstanding year planned in Distance Learning. We also have a robust system of social and emotional supports to get you and your child through this time.

If I can be of help to your family during the school year, please contact my office at 831.645.1204 or email to superintendentsmemo@mpusd.net.

Respectfully yours,
