Every October, National Principals Month is an opportunity to acknowledge and praise the leadership of school principals.

Students in grades transitional kindergarten through 6th grade at six MPUSD schools will receive free dental care in mid October.

Take a moment during National School Lunch week to recognize MPUSD’s cooks, servers, clerks, and delivery drivers who are committed to feeding our students and running a safe and healthy food service program during National School Lunch Week - October 14 - 18, 2024.

During the 2024-2025 school year, MPUSD is offering the YouthTruth survey for students, teachers and staff, and parents and guardians from September 30 - November 1, 2024.

The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District acknowledges October 13-19, 2024, as Week of the School Administrator and publicly recognizes the contribution that school administrators make to student achievement. In MPUSD, administrators comprise just six percent of its total employee base.

Tuesday, October 22, 2024, is Federal Survey Day for our military-connected families in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. We still need assistance in completing a card for our military-connected families.

MPUSD offers short-term independent study when students are planning to be absent one to up to 15 days a school year. Advance notice is required.

The Board of Education adopted a resolution recognizing September 15 - October 15, 2024, as National Hispanic Heritage Month in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District.

September is Attendance Awareness Month and the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is kicking off a year-long education campaign prioritizing the importance of consistent and daily attendance at school.

2024-2025 Back-to-School Connections will take place August 26 - September 6, 2024, for elementary, TK-8, and middle school families. Early release times for these school sites.

This initiative is part of the school's broader vision to rethink nutrition services and enhance student engagement.

In the 2024-2025 school year, MPUSD's three comprehensive high schools - Marina High School, Monterey High School, and Seaside High School will move to a 7-period schedule.

In recognition of this commitment, the MPUSD Board of Education officially commemorates Juneteenth on June 19, 2024, as a day to celebrate emancipation and emphasize the ongoing fight against injustice.
