“It’s just such a satisfying feeling to leave your work and know that you put smiles on people’s faces that day. I know that I have helped someone every day with something, and it could be big or small and it’s just that feeling of satisfaction to be able to accomplish a busy day,” JC Crumpton Elementary School Office Secretary Nikki Stanley proudly states.

Nikki has been Crumpton's front office since 2020, but is no stranger to the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. She got her start in the Human Resources department in July of 2018 and at that time.

“I never considered working for education. I never thought there would be a position for a classified person. I always thought it was certificated," Nikki said.

Even though this is one of the busiest jobs she has ever had in her life, Nikki has never felt so satisfied and accomplished.

“It’s different every day. I enjoy the chaos, the laughter, and all the sounds of being at a school. I definitely fit in and I see myself retiring (from here),” she says.

This job allows Nikki to be part of her seven-year old daughter’s life in a big way.

“My daughter has been my inspiration. Being a mom has really helped me work in this field. This really was a great move. I don’t think I could have done anything better as a mom than to be able to work at a school district and also have my child here in the school district, as well,” she says.

“There is just so much about this site that I absolutely fell in love with,” says Nikki about the school. “You can feel the love here at this school even when you walk onto the site. I love my job. I love the students. I love the families and staff. People here care about each other, we’re like a family unit and I feel honored to be a part of this family at Crumpton.”

“Working for MPUSD has been huge for me. It’s been nice for me to understand the heart of MPUSD when I was in HR, and then being able to work at another location. Having that HR background has been instrumental in understanding parents and having a child of my own in the district has helped me understand parents and their needs," Nikki said.

Nikki was born and raised in Monterey County, and is a product of the peninsula schools including Ord Terrace Elementary School, the former Martin Luther King, Jr. School of the Arts Middle School, and Monterey High School. Her daughter attends Del Rey Woods Elementary School. Outside of work, Nikki and her family enjoy pretending to be tourists and explore the area they live in.

“This area we live in is so beautiful,” she says.
