Chromebook Policy Reminder & New Payment Option for Damages

September 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to remind you of our Chromebook policies, which were initially provided in the Online Registration. This reminder ensures you are aware of the expectations regarding the care and use of these devices, and we are excited to introduce a new payment option for any potential damage.

Your student’s educational program includes a Chromebook for both school and home use. While this is a valuable tool, it is important to take care of the device, as any damage, loss, or theft is the responsibility of the student and family. The district has established a cost schedule for repairs and replacements, which varies depending on the issue. Intentional damage will incur full replacement costs, while accidental damage is subject to fees outlined in the schedule.

For stolen devices, a police report is required, and the district will replace the Chromebook, charging a deductible. Lost devices will also be billed, with a refund possible if the device is recovered in good condition within 12 months.

We're now offering a new way for parents to stay updated on Chromebook fees and make payments conveniently through the Synergy ParentVUE portal. This new feature allows for easier tracking and payment of any Chromebook-related costs.

Please review the full policy in the handbook and reach out to us with any questions. Thank you for helping us keep our technology secure and in good working order.
