Exciting News: Purchase Bus Passes Online Starting July 17!

Dear MPUSD Families,

We’re excited to share a convenient new way to purchase school bus passes for the 2025–2026 school year. Beginning Thursday, July 17, 2025, families will be able to purchase a bus pass for their child online.

To ensure a smooth experience, please review key details below:

  • Priority will first be given to families who qualify for transportation assistance. Families who qualify for MPUSD’s free and reduced lunch program will be able to purchase their bus pass beginning July 17, 2025, before we open it up to the greater MPUSD student population.

  • In order to purchase online, families must first complete MPUSD’s student online registration or enrollment confirmation process before they can purchase a bus pass.

  • Once a student is registered and/or confirmed enrolled for the 2025-2026 school year, they may be able to purchase a bus pass online.

  • Following the priority period for qualifying students, bus passes will be available on a first come, first served basis.

  • All students must have their physical bus pass in hand by Monday, September 2, 2025, to ride to and from school.

We’re committed to making transportation easier and more accessible for families. Thank you for your attention to these important steps. If you have questions or need assistance, you may call our office at 831-392-3999.

We do offer free bus passes; please click here for the minimum requirements as specified by the state of California.

Special Education Bus Information

If your student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that includes transportation as a necessary service, you must submit a Transportation Request Form for the 2025-26 school year or your student may not be scheduled for a school bus on the first day of school (Transportation Request form link below).

It is extremely important to submit a form as early as possible to ensure your student receives busing and prevent extended delay. It normally takes 5 to 7 business days for normal processing and up to two weeks to route new students during peak times such as the beginning of the school year.

Employment Opportunities

Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is hiring part time and full time school bus drivers. College students, parents, retirees and veterans are encouraged to apply. School Bus Driver Work Requirements
All school bus drivers must go through a thorough screening, which includes fingerprinting by the school district and California Highway Patrol as well as controlled substance testing. They are also required to complete extensive training to obtain and retain their bus driver certification. These are safety sensitive positions that require extensive screening and training as they are transporting our most precious cargo!
