MPUSD launches bus driver cadet program

By Human Resources

Join the MPUSD School Bus Driver Cadet Program. Cadets are bus driver candidates cleared to work with students working on their bus driver certificate.

Earn $21.66 an hour and work between five to eight hours a day. The district provides a training stipend to cover CHP and DMV testing fees.

Bus driver cadets are responsible for completing training and obtaining a school bus driver certificate. While in the course of training, a cadet may ride along on routes to observe and assist the driver or may transport elementary, middle, high school and adult students to school and home in a van. Cadets are expected to practice their pre-trip daily as part of their time in training and regularly study training guides and materials in preparation for their written tests.

Working as a cadet provides the opportunity to apply and develop passenger management skills and directly observe certified bus drivers in the course of their duties and develop familiarity with the area and community that they will serve.
