MPUSD Resolutions for October 2021

During the month of October, the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District approved three resolutions to recognize National School Bus Safety Month, National School Lunch Week and School Administrator Week.

Saturday Academy Begins

Starting Saturday, October 16, students at Highland Elementary, Ord Terrace Elementary, Seaside Middle School and Monterey High School will be able to make up for lost learning time due to an absence.

MPUSD expects to add more schools as staffing becomes available.

Suicide Prevention Month - September 2021

On Tuesday, September 28, the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District Board of Education approved a resolution to recognize September 2021 as Suicide Prevention Month.

MPUSD September 16 Town Hall Archives

MPUSD held a districtwide Town Hall on September 16 with an update on the school year, including COVID-19 protocols, process and communication. The PowerPoint presentation and video archive is available.

District English Learner Advisory Committee and District Advisory Committee

Mark your calendars! Parent engagement is critical and we invite your participation and feedback at our 2021-2022 District Advisory Committee and District English Learner Advisory Committee meetings. Our District English Learner Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity on English learner programs and services.

Notice of Public Hearing: School Facility Fee Justification Report

The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is justified to collect the legal maximum fee of $4.08 per square foot of residential development and $0.66 per square foot of senior citizen housing as authorized by Education Code Seciton 17620 and Government Code Section 65995. Additionally, it is also justified to collect the legal maximum fee of $0.66 per square foot of development on all categories of commercial/industrial development, as those categories of development create school facility costs ranging from $2.22 to $9.52 per square foot of future development. AB 104: Pupil instruction, retention, grade changes, and exemptions

Assembly Bill 104 includes provisions in the area of student retention, pass/no pass grades, and local graduation requirements exemption. If students and their families are interested in any of these three options, please contact the Education Services Department at 831-645-1200.

MPUSD Digital Academy: Fall 2021

We hope your summer is off to a great start. The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is looking ahead to the fall kick off of the 2021-2022 school year. MPUSD and it’s schools will return to traditional, in-person, five days a week school beginning August 4, 2021. (Click headline to learn about MPUSD's Digital Academy.)

Monterey High School EIR

The District performed a full Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the planned Monterey High School Dan Albert Stadium project that consists of a lower softball and multi-use field, a multi-purpose weight room, added visitor bleachers, a new press box, improved accessible seating and safety features, and permanent lighting to the Dan Albert Stadium. The final EIR and project will be on the agenda for consideration of approval by the MPUSD Board of Education on July 27th, 2021.

Do you have a toddler, preschooler or child about to enter transitional kindergarten or kindergarten? Don't delay as our classes are filling to capacity at some school sites and we want to be sure your child is registered for the 2021-2022 school year.
