Student Voice in Action: Celebrating National Student Leadership Week | April 20 - 24, 2026

At Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, student voice is more than a value, it’s a driving force behind how we grow, improve, and serve our school communities.

During National Student Leadership Week (April 20 - 24, 2026), MPUSD proudly recognizes the many students across our district who lead with purpose, advocate for their peers, and help shape the direction of their schools and district.

From classrooms and campuses to districtwide leadership spaces, students are stepping forward to share ideas, elevate concerns, and contribute to meaningful decision-making. Their perspectives help ensure that the work we do reflects the needs, experiences, and aspirations of those we serve every day.

A powerful example of this leadership can be seen through our student trustees, who serve alongside the Board of Education, or our student representatives who provide reports about their high schools. These students play an important role in bringing forward student perspectives, providing input on key topics, and helping inform decisions that impact schools across MPUSD.

Student leadership takes many forms, whether it’s speaking at meetings, organizing activities on campus, leading clubs, or simply using one’s voice to create positive change. Across MPUSD, students are demonstrating that leadership is not defined by a title, but by action, courage, and a commitment to others.

As we celebrate National Student Leadership Week, we thank our student leaders for their dedication and the example they set for their peers. Their voices matter, and their leadership continues to shape a stronger, more connected MPUSD.

Because at MPUSD, leadership is the lever.
