Community Awareness: Drug Safety and Information

This message is being sent to parents/guardians in the MPUSD Community Updates on 11-1/25.

Parents and Guardians,

We want to make you aware of a recent concern circulating locally involving an individual reportedly selling “weed pens” laced with fentanyl on social media platforms, particularly Snapchat. We have heard from third parties that some students are referring to these as “fenty pens.”

We share this information not to alarm you, but to ensure our families have accurate information and resources to keep students safe. Fentanyl is a highly potent and dangerous substance, and even small amounts can cause serious harm or overdose.

MPUSD continues to take proactive steps to safeguard our students. In addition to drug awareness presentations and information on our website, MPUSD makes available at our schools Narcan (naloxone), a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Please contact your school’s front office if you are interested in obtaining Narcan. Additionally, the district continues to partner with Montage Health and Prescribe Safe to expand access and training and they provide a helpful overview of what parents need to know about Narcan on their website.

We encourage families to talk openly with their children about the risks of vaping, drug use, and purchasing or accepting substances from others. Our partners at  Montage Health and Prescribe Safe have a Toolkit for Parents that you might find helpful. Additionally, please do not hesitate to reach out to your school site or local law enforcement if you hear or see anything concerning.

Together, we can help ensure our community remains a safe and supportive place for all students.
