National Substitute Appreciation Week | May 6 - 10

May 6 - 10, 2024, marks National Substitute Appreciation Week, and at the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to those teachers behind the scenes of education - our substitute teachers.

At MPUSD, we are incredibly fortunate to have 265 active substitutes this school year who have dedicated their time and expertise to ensure that schools continue to thrive and students continue to learn. Each day, rain or shine, we rely on an average of 80 to 100 substitutes to step in and keep the wheels of education turning smoothly. Some days, the number surpasses 100!

Whether it's covering a class for a teacher who is out sick, attending to personal matters, or engaging in professional development, our substitute teachers play a vital role in maintaining continuity in the classroom. Their flexibility, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to student learning are truly commendable.

To all MPUSD substitute teachers - thank you for your tireless dedication, your passion for education, and your willingness to go above and beyond for our students. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do.

Join MPUSD in celebrating the amazing substitute teachers today and every day.
