Nutrition Warehouse Worker/Delivery Driver

Nutrition Services Department

In the midst of the Nutrition Services warehouse where there are boxes among boxes housing everything from crackers to grains to garbanzo beans and spices to juices and dry goods, Adan Muñoz can be found. And, if Adan isn’t in the warehouse you can find him in the new, large refrigerator/freezer unit at the District Services Center or out delivering food products to the district’s school sites throughout Marina, Monterey and Seaside.

“Our delivery days are Fridays and we continue through Monday,” says Adan. “Sometimes into Tuesday if it is super busy.” Adan is part of a team of three that ensures timely delivery of products ranging from dry goods to frozen food. He finds pure enjoyment in the work, and says that is what motivates him to get up and live each day.

Adan has been part of the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District family for 14 years. “I am happy to be here. Happy to be working for a good thing (kids).”

He enjoys being outside and driving. “This job allows me to be out there - whether it's rainy or sunny - and being a nature lover it’s one of the best things,” he says. Adan says another thing he likes about MPUSD is that everyone is nice. “My job is to make deliveries and the staff here is great … that is one of the things that I like about this place. Everybody is super nice and tries to be positive about things,” he shares.

Adan has a history with MPUSD as his now adult daughters attended Del Rey Woods Elementary School, the former Walter Colton Middle School, and Monterey High School.

Outside of MPUSD work, Adan is holding down a second job in the food industry at Pebble Beach. He has served as a cook for 35 years, and 27 of them at Pebble Beach. “I’ve been lucky enough to be doing all kinds of the things in the kitchen from the pantry to desserts,” he says.
