David Collyer: I Feel a Special Connection to the Campus and Community

I teach at Los Arboles Middle School because of the people who work here, both certificated and classified staff, and because of the students. Los Arboles is the middle school where I attended and I feel a special connection to the campus and the community. As someone who attended K-12 in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, the student population at the school reflects my own experiences while in school. I absolutely love the diverse population of students!

I went to school for a multiple subjects credential as I had planned on becoming an elementary school teacher, but when I was presented the opportunity to not only teach at my own middle school, but also teach 6th grade in the same classroom where I had my own 6th grade core classes, I immediately jumped on the chance.

Since then, the interactions and friendships that I have developed with the students and staff at Los Arboles Middle School would make it nearly impossible for me to ever leave the school district, let alone the school.
