Staff Update (May 1): Updated Shelter in Place, Masks and Q & A with Cabinet

Shelter in Place, Masks, and Q & A with Cabinet

This email is being sent to MPUSD all staff. This may be duplicative as we are trying to ensure ALL STAFF receive.

MPUSD Team,

We hope this email finds you well and adapting to our new "normal." We are writing to share information on Monterey County’s updated Order directing all individuals living in the county to continue sheltering at their place of residence, as well wearing a face covering when out in public, consistent with orders or guidance of the Health Officer.

Specifically, the Order states that the Shelter in Place for Monterey County has been extended until 11:59 p.m. on May 31, 2020, or until it is extended, rescinded, superseded, or amended by the Health Officer.

Additionally, the order:

  • Exempts homeless individuals from the order, but urges government agencies to provide them shelter and hand sanitation facilities.
  • Requires essential businesses to implement social distancing protocols.
  • Clarifies essential business and lower risk activities.
  • Directs all businesses and government agencies to cease non-essential and higher risk operations.
The Shelter in Place order may be found here, as well as appendices with updated information on social distancing protocol.

ACTION: We ask principals, school office supervisors, and department heads to print the attached updated order, as well as the attached updated Social Distancing Protocol, as required by the county, and replace it with the one dated April 3 that is hanging in your office, department or facility.

MASKS: If you are working at a site or department and need a face covering (mask), we have them on hand for employee use. Each department manager has access to masks. If departments are running low, please contact the Communications department to access additional masks.

Q & A WITH CABINET: We understand it’s been a month since we had a districtwide Q & A session. We want to check in with employees and offer another voluntary Q & A session on Friday, May 8 from 8:30 - 10 a.m. The webinar will be recorded if you cannot join, and we welcome any questions in advance by emailing mmcfadden@mpusd.k12.ca.us. Register here for an invite link.

Thank you for your continued patience as we together navigate this pandemic.
