Update #8 (March 17): School Not in Session Through April 8

MPUSD Families,

We recognize that this is a challenging and unprecedented time with constantly changing conditions. The health and safety of our community and families remain at the center of all decision making.

The Monterey County Department of Public Health has issued a Shelter In Place effective midnight on March 18, 2020, that will last for three weeks until midnight on April 8, 2020. (Click here for order.)

The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District schools and sites will now be closed to students and non-essential employees through April 8, 2020. Extending school closures beyond this date will be reassessed based on regional/local COVID-19 activity and guidance from the Monterey County Department of Public Health and the State Department of Education. We will continue to communicate any changes as they occur.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We know that this is a time of uncertainty and we will continue to communicate proactively with any further developments. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at supt@mpusd.k12.ca.us.

Sincerely,
PK Diffenbaugh
Superintendent
