After attending UC Santa Cruz for a portion of his educational journey, Solorzano was captivated by the Central Coast’s sense of community and natural beauty.

“I fell in love with the area, the people, the community. And I went back home, and I always thought to myself that one day I want to come back to this community, to make a difference. It just made an imprint in my life,” he shared.

Solorzano’s road to education was not a straight one. Originally pursuing computer engineering, he found himself questioning systemic inequities in education. This led him to community college and eventually to Cal State Long Beach, where he merged his interests in education and cultural sensitivity. His experiences as a student activist shaped his vision: to create systems that unite rather than divide.

At Seaside High, Solorzano views his role as that of a bridge and an advocate.

“I want all my families, as soon as they step foot into Seaside High, when they come into our doors, when they come into our office, that if I could be of any service, you can always come to me with your needs, with your questions, with your concerns,” he explained.

His mission is to connect families with resources, empower students, and foster a sense of belonging. He believes that by making students feel cared for—as individuals and not just as learners—Seaside High can become a second home where they thrive academically and personally.

Solorzano emphasizes collaboration, breaking down silos between schools, families, and community partners.

“This community is rich in diversity and history,” he said. “I see my role as continuing the great legacy of Seaside High while creating opportunities for our kids to aspire and achieve great things.”

Outside of work, Solorzano enjoys fishing, boxing, and road trips. He finds inspiration in the natural beauty of the Monterey Peninsula and reflects on his good fortune to serve in such a vibrant, supportive community.

Through his passion and dedication, Solorzano embodies the values of servant leadership and connection, striving to make Seaside High a place where students and families feel supported and empowered to achieve their dreams.
